Robert “Pogo” Vance
March 15, 1956 – March 16, 2009
Our dear husband, dad, son, brother and friend, Pogo was called home March 16, 2009 one day after his 53rd birthday. Our great loss is heaven’s gain honey….
You started this battle of Kidney Disease nearly two years ago like you did everything in this life, head down and just get after it, but as hard as you tried, this awful disease was one hurdle after another, turning you physically into a man you just didn’t want to be.
You had such a full life…. ski racing, football, rugby, hunting, golfing, camping. Just about anything that had to do with the outdoors, you did it all and anyone that was with you loved the ride. You were a master carpenter, working in the construction trades most of your life. If there was a tool to be had, well you had it honey!
In 1989 you met the love of your life Debbie, and on May 5th, 1990 you married her. You had the most wonderful journey together of nearly 20 years. In 1993 you and Debbie had the greatest blessing of your lives, your son Billy. Never was there a more proud dad than you and never were you more loved, than by your son.
In 1994 you became a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, an organization you believed in wholeheartedly and they believed in you. Your proudest accomplishment was being our Utah State Aerie President in 2005-2006. All who knew you across our State and country were proud to call you their brother. You supported so many causes and charities and worked effortlessly for our Order, all our brothers and sisters will never forget you.
You are survived by your wife Debbie and son Billy. Your mother Beverley, your sisters, Nea, Leigh (Jerry) Anderson, Beverley (Bob) Shook, Susie (John) Wymore, your brother, John (Desta) Marbury, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. You are preceded in death by your father Earl Vance.
Through all the ups and downs of our little family we never once gave up Dad, we always did our very best, together. All who knew you were honored to call you their friend. We were not ready to let you go, but we have great joy in knowing that God took you by the hand, brought you home and, you are happy and whole again. You will always be with us, till we see you again honey, we love you.
