State Convention 2010

We all had a really good time at State Convention. The Park City Marriott treated us really good. Too bad we had such noisy construction out back on Thursday and Friday during ritual competition. Saturday and Sunday they took the day off - yipee, it was quiet! Some notable events from convention include; Our tote bag, made by Alexis Hernandez, won first place and got $20! Larry Smith giving the dogchain to Mack Glover from Tooele. Mack was really surprised! Congrats to Mack! Our mens team all trophied and got the team trophy. They all scored really high and we are confident that even if they would have had any competition they would have won! Our ladies C class team got the team trophy. Mary Garfield, Candice Dinga, Jamie Duvall, JoAnn Iker, Linda Cannon, Debbie Tuttle and our two novice competitors Alexis Hernandez and Kendra Taylor all trophied in their class. Congrats to you all! We are very proud of all of our ritual competitors! Newly elected state officers from Pleasant Grove #3372: Scott Carlson-Secretary, Larry Smith-Conductor, Mary Garfield-Aux Inside Guard, Jeff Taylor-Trustee and Chairman of the Board and Steven "Putter" Frandsen-Trustee. We are very honored to have you all serve as State Officers from Pleasant Grove. The State Eagles presented a check to Make a Wish for $13,500.00 and to the guide dog organization for $6000.00. What a great job everyone did to raise this money! Terry Carlson was awarded Chairman of the Year for chairing the Make a Wish project! Whoo Hoo! Way to go Terry! We were told that would grant at least two children's wishes. It's time to get to work on the projects for next year! Primary Children's Hospital for the Aerie and Epilepsy for the Auxiliary. Both worthy charities! Mack's sisters already started him off with $200.00 and have promised to have fundraisers throughout the year to help Mack's charity. Let's have a great year! Our hospitality room was a hit as always! Thank you to all those that came by to meet our incoming Presidents John Crawford and Alexis Hernandez. Thanks to the Baja Cantina for the great food and to John, Julie, Linda and Debbie and everyone else that helped get it all together! Great job!!
